The Winter's Tale

The Winters Tail by William Shakespeare is thrilling and heartbreaking all at once. This story starts with us seeing what a true marriage looks like. In my opinion, marriage is not a fairytale. The average marriage includes hardships, arguments, and even lies.

Hermione and Leontes show us exactly what a true marriage looks like. In the first part of the play, Hermione is accused of having an affair. King Leontes believes Hermione is having an affair and that the child she carries is not his. So, King Leontes throws Hermione in a prison cell to justify her actions.

While Hermione was in the prison cell, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Even after the birth, King Leontes still refused to acknowledge the girl as his own blood. So, King Leontes ordered for the baby to be left in the woods. King Leontes wanted the child dead...

Finally, after a very long time, Leontes saw the error in his ways. So, while King Leontes was cruel to his wife Hermione, he still loved her in the end. Hermione feels betrayed by her husband in the beginning of this play. However, by the end she loves Leontes.
